Sony Xperia Sola

Today I am reviewing Sony Xperia Sola, Sola in Japanese means unique. It comes with Android2.3 Gingerbread and can be easily updated to Ice cream Sandwich.

Sola has a 3.7 inch LCD screen, which appears to be pasted on the phone. Xperia Sola is the first ever smartphone to use floating touch which enables you to use browse through webpages without actually touching screen. Just like moving a cursor you move your finger above screen without touching and when you are done with flipping pages, just tap on the desired link to load that page.

It has a powerful 1 GHz dual core processor and also supports NFC(Near field Communication). Sooner or later NFC will become very important as you just need to bring phones closer and the data will be exchanged between the 2 devices. This is a very good addition to this, also it comes up with a 5 MP camera. This disappoints me a little as in this range we should be getting an 8 MP camera at least. Sony Xperia Sola is available in 3 colours to chose from – Black, White or Red.

The box contains:

  • Wall charger
  • Data cable
  • Wired stereo headset
  • 2 SmartTags
  • micro SIM adapter
  • Quick start guide and other papers.

It also comes with Music Unlimited and Movies Unlimited pre-installed, meaning you can enjoy the latest Hollywood blockbusters and millions of tunes, with its xLoud and 3D surround sound technology! it is a good option.

Installed apps & services:

  • PlayNow™ service.
  • TrackID™ music recognition.
  • Facebook inside Xperia.
  • Sony Entertainment Network.
  • Sony channel in Play Shop.

Dislikes for the phone

It has no front camera which is a must for video calling. Also it comes with Gingerbread which later can be updated to Ice cream Sandwich. Battery is user not user replaceable.

Conclusion

It just don't stand out in the competition but some features like NFC and Floating Touch makes it a worth buy. It gives a very solid feel in hand and is packed up with a very good set of features which wont disappoint you.
